The Courtmacsherry Lifeboat (the Frederick Storey Cockburn) was called out on 03 October 2010 to assist a boat in trouble near the Galley Head. Coxwain Sean O' Farrell and a crew of 6 searched the entire area but the boat in question could not be found and the search was eventually called off by the Coastguard - the crew were as follows: Sean O' Farrell (Coxwain), Gearoid O' Donovan (Mechanic), Kevin Young, Kieran Boyle, Simon Locke, Donal O' Dwyer and Colin Hunt.
